Previous De Anza lifeguard graduates news flashes

Seaman Apprentice Kernan Dibble (Fall 2001 lifeguard training and a Red Cross CPR/First Aid instructor) will be in Chicago for a year and a half and leave a few units short of a degree in electrical engineering, then head for San Diego. In an April 12, 2003 phone conversation he said "Your lifeguard training class was harder than boot camp" and "if you didn't jump from the 5 meter they just pushed you." (He jumped.)

Purisai Rangarajan ("Sri") (Fall 2002 lifeguard training) is the proud father of daughter Ria (Feb. 28, 2003 at 11:40 p.m., 6 lbs, 13 oz.)

Jay Willard (Spring 2001 De Anza lifeguard training), a Red Cross CPR instructor, has moved on to Missoula, Montana.

Suzy Nemec (fall 1994 lifeguard graduate and regular volunteer with aquatics classes at De Anza) became Mrs. Daniel Paulazzo on August 17, 2002. She met him while ice skating. He fell near her, losing two teeth, and she gave him first aid.

Decklen Giovanni Aceituno will be 15 years old and able to become a Red Cross lifeguard on May 31, 2017.

His mom, Michelle Minor Aceituno (Spring 2000 De Anza lifeguard training) is a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor.

Decklin, who arrived at 4:31 p.m., was 20" long and weighed 7 lbs, 3 oz. He visited De Anza for the Fall quarter 2002 lifeguard training CPRFPR class and disrupted the class greatly, not by being noisy, but by keeping instructors occupied cooing at him.

Christine Crawford (Spring 1998, Red Cross CPR Instructor) has been accepted on scholarship to the Honors Lawyering Program at Golden Gate University Law School, "a small program that combines intense study with interest-specific internships and a strong mentor base."

Wendy Sato (Spring 2000, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor) graduated from UC Santa Cruz in the spring of 2002 with a BA in Economics.
