Written evaluation (not all students wrote).
1. What did you like about this course?
The instructor was very concise and down-to-earth, knows what she is teaching,
keeps the class under control.
Instructor was very enthusiastic and knowedgable. There were plenty of helpfull assistance available
and there were enough practice materials for everyone in the class.
I liked how effectively we utilized the time to learn course objectives. The skills I learned are extremely helpful and I’m sure will serve me well.
This class is fun and very useful in providing CPR information and I believe those information will
be helpful for me in some point in the future.
Mary had lots of stories of actual events.
Each student gets attention during skills training.
It prepared me very thoroughly to help others in dire need of CPR.
The instructor and the hands-on experience.
Getting trained in proper CPR technique.
A lot of hands on training.
The videos and stories relating to class.
Learning to save lives
Provide valuable skills that can be applied in dangerous situations
well sorted, useful
learn, practice, useful, life saving skills
hands on opportunity to learn skills
Very useful in real life
I learned about usefull things about CPR.
2. What did you dislike about this course?
Carpets need cleaning
The videos were a bit bland.
Lenght of class
Waiting for students to show up.
Too long without breaks. It could have 15-20 minute breaks.
having to wait for tardy students
TA s could be a little more personable, less of authoritarian figures. 🙂
3. What specific changes could improve this course?
The instructor was great! No changes needed.
Get more recent videos (Note from the instructor- we use the most recent.)
Shorten the class
More time to practice in class.
Nothing much, really. I wouldn’t know how to penalize late students. She was very clear about punctuality.
I’m satisfied with this course
Textbook had us going back to previous pages on each new item. Should have everything listed for the steps.
Nothing, I think it is taught very well.
I think everything is perfect.
4. Please make any additional comments or suggestions about this course and/or this instructor.
Mary is a great instructor. She keeps things very interesting & fun while being very serious about the need to learn it. She prepares us for the worst to make sure we are prepared for any situation.
I learned a lot of new things – preparing for disasters and such. I strongly recommend this instructor.
The instructor is also helpful in providing information with video and reading materials. I would
recommend Mary to other friends of mine if they want to take CPR class.
Keep up the good work. I really enjoyed your class.
This instructor is very thorough. Although she is strict, I still recommend her to anyone interested in
learning CPR because she is just that good.
Thank you Mary, you taught so well and helped me understand important materials.
Enjoyed this class
there is nothing wrong

From a comments section (not all of the students wrote comments):
What did you like about the course?
I felt more knowledgeable and proud that I can rescue somebody who is in danger. I feel important.
Challenging, held to high standards.
Hand on practice.
I liked the large amount of time to be able to practice over and over the different scenarios. I feel more confident after this course than shorter courses, such as a one day course.
All the knowledge I got from it.
The way the skills were checked.
It was very thorough and informative. Mary was a great instructor. Inspires me to go further with this certification.
The practice sessions and the videos were very helpful. The manual is very easy to follow and very helpful.
It helps me a lot which I can help other people in these situations. Got more knowledge.
Had enough time to absorb the material.
Detailed instructions. Very, very patient to the students, make sure that you did it right, move on to the next step!
I learned something that is lifesaving. I wish everyone would take this class.
very much useful and exciting
It was straight to the point. I liked that it was over 6 weeks rather than 1 day.
The fact that the subject matter would be very important to know in case of emergency.
The energy of the instructor!
What did you dislike about the course?
Too many students did not take the work seriously. We will be medical professionals!
Can’t think of anything.
Too much pressure in doing it right in practice.
Questions from a few students made it clear they had not been doing the reading assignments. Their skills betrayed them as well.
Nothing in particular. Only the kneeling down on the floor during practice sessions.
I’m always afraid to make mistakes in this class.
Not enough time. Too big of a class.
It felt rushed and I know this class is longer in duration than the Red Cross. I feel it needs to be taken 3 or 4 times.
extra hours to work
Checkoff process for skills should have been more strict – there are some people in class that should not be certified or I would not want them to try to help me…
It was confusing in the beginning and the teaching assistants tricked us at times. We were lost in the beginning. We were fine later.
What specific changes could improve this course?
A larger area is better.
Having students set up right when they come into class.
It helps to really think – airway & call 911 right off the bat.
Maybe a better way to do check offs. I did like when we stood in line to wait for first, 2nd. etc. But I think that was confusing to some maybe do alphabetical by last name.
Give more time for practice.
Everything is perfect.
More helpers for the amount of students.
-Everything is perfect-
Please make any additional comments or suggestions about this course and/or this instructor.
Good instructor, good book, good assistant helpers, good videos, good equipment, overall everything was good.
Great teacher makes things simpler.
Instructor was very well prepared and provided specifics to give more reality to skills learned.
None. It was good.
Instructor is extraordinary. She taught really good. I like her teaching way.
There should be more classes like this on campus.
Mary made the course fun yet very informative. I learned so much.
The instructor is a great person and a very good teacher.
Mary knows her stuff. She can answer pretty much anything.
Instructor was very well prepared and excited to expand our knowledge as students.
This was a very well organized course with excellent skills. I really learned a lot from this course.
If no one volunteers to help get the supplies then just pick people then be sure to have help and some don’t get off doing nothing in the class.
If the class size gets smaller, it will getting better.
I like (after the fact) that the class was hard because I feel like I know it well. Yet there really wasn’t enough time to meet those standards it felt like.
Room should be bigger.
Instructor was very knowledgeable about subject matter.
